What was the highlight of Adarin Beach Resort

Could be a lot better.

- Nice layout of Bungalows, quiet & peaceful - Staff is willing to help albeit limited in professional skills

- As they built the resort close to the shore, they are facing erosion. Their consolidation works are destroying the beach and totally irrespectful for the environment. - There is no real beach as they are on the narrow portion of the Naeman beach. No sundeckers. Can’t get outside the hotel through the beach at night due to high tides. - 1 staff was really professional and fluent in English. 2 others were okay. The rest of staff barely speaks English. Needs to be very patient. - Rooms are not cleaned regularly.

Great for quiet chill out rest

Very relaxed location right on the beach. My villa was great and very quiet.

Air conditioning was a bit noisy. Restaurant food was pretty basic. Thai options were better. Coffee wasn't great as they tried to make latte using coffee creamer. Best option was to wander into the resort next door.

will choose this hotel again, if they keep same price and quality

not sure about the other rooms, but those at the front line look very new and comfy. peaceful place, does fit its price

meets my requirement for a one week stay, considering that I spent all the day out of hotel and had perfect seaside breakfast and evening walks with not much people along the beach. not for those who need a big swimming pool or expects for loud parties

Great staff, perfect bungalow for families.

The team was great and our room as well. They were extremely nice with our little one.

The area around our bungalow was a little under construction, it would be nice to see it complete.

Clean and Comfortable.

Good if you are looking to stay at a resort and not move about Koh Samui. Rented bikes without an issue here and the guy and girl on reception are very friendly and have decent English and will help you with recommendations. Did not have breakfast here but it looked good and plenty were dining in the restaurant.

To go anywhere you have to hire a bike/car, as there’s not much about. It’s not too far from the Fisherman Village on a bike but apart from that nothing.

Good

The rooms were lovely big and spacious breakfast and food was Delicious especially the lady in the morning making the fresh pancakes . Lovely Beach when the tide was out. the staff were lovely and friendly

when we went the resort was very empty and having 3children with us 2 being toddlers we got placed next door to an old couple and we had to keep the kids locked in the room untill 8.30am to respect the neighbours what was fine but we could of been placed in another hut further down we’re no one was staying so we didn’t disturb people around us. also the pool was great and small, again no problem but with my three kids splashing around having fun keeping noise to a minimum we got some dirty looks from the older generation and it just put us on edge and hard to enjoy our stay. I think maybe the resort should be an adults only resort with being how small the resort was. It wasn’t the resorts fault but I think maybe if you have younger children this resort isn’t the place for you.

Good value for money resort made better by pleasant and helpful staff

Very helpful and friendly staff. Good location right on the coast. Comfortable bed Plenty of sun beds and bean bags available

There had been a storm recently which had washed away some of the beach so it was only available to walk on at low tide. You could still swim in the sea, reachable down some rather bumpy steps. The location is good as it is right on the coast but it is a 20 minute walk to the main road and there is no resort transport. The only option is taxi (unless you hire a car or motorbike) and they are not cheap. No handrails on any steps or on steps into the pool.

A nice resort consisting of private villas submerged in a lush garden, next to a private quasi-beach (the real one below was often completely submerged due to high tide and bad weather), delicious, fresh breakfast options and dining by the sea. Helpful and friendly staff for sure! Some nice thai restaurants in walking distance (Grandmothers Thai food was the best!).

Mae Nam beach is a bit narrow and was often partially submerged in water, so you couldn't stroll along the whole stretch. Not many transport options to the resort and pretty expensive taxis for the distance travelled.

Good

The staff at Adarin were lovely and very helpful. Our accommodation was clean and quiet. The restaurant had a menu of Thai and western food and seemed to be open for business all day. There were plenty of sunbeds and bean bags around the pool.

Unfortunately , just before we arrived there had been a huge storm which damaged some to the sea wall and washed away some of the beach. During high tide the beach disappeared completely! So, it was only possible to wander up the beach to different restaurants when the tide permitted. Adarin is a 20 minute walk from the main road where you can catch a songthaew to other areas such as Fishermans Village, a little too far for some people. Otherwise the only alternative is to order a taxi, which can be expensive.

> Garden is nice and place by the pool (as sea is dirty it's the only place to hang around and cool in clean water) > Afordafle if you need some short period accommodation (without swimming or sunbading). Like you came for market in Fishermen village on Friday, Safari or to see Big Buddha temple on Koh Samui etc.

> Dirty beach (sewage drains run directly into the sea and it's visible), so think twice about swimming in that water > Breakfast (you choose between few meals, very poor). Choice example: 2 loafs of toast and 1 egg, Musli with fruit and yogurt/milk. Pineapple and watermelon as much as you can eat if you don't mind the low freshness sometimes (even midges) > Mediocre restaurant food. 1.000 of dishes, Thai, Curry and European but none prepared well. Don't get it. Why not have 20 meals but prepared well? It's even hard for staff to recommend something. > Prices or menu are not well balanced. Main dishes and appetizers are within similar price range, 2-3 dl of diluted juice are more expensive then e.g. cola or same price as 0,5 beer > Smelly room (wood pannelled walls with lot of moisture), not cleaned thoroughly (sheets-towell changeing each time cleaning is required) > It seems no additional investment have been made there for years > prices higher than given accommodation (service) state > Manager argues with guests in front of other guests. Smiles at them and seems like making fun of them. Good manager should lower tone, accept and learn from critique and sometimes is better to apologize and give 5% discount then loose guests or get a bed review

The Location

I did not like anything about this resort, I was supposed to get picked up from the airport this did not happen when I enquired I was told that the driver was too busy, can you believe it he was too busy to pick up a paying guest, the first night I found a stranger in bed with me only to find I was sharing a bed with cockroach when we approached the owner she was rather blasé about the situation. I have stayed at several resorts in Koh Samui and was always given free bottles of water when I enquired I was told that in the past the guests would just drink a little of the water and throw the rest away this is a rather strange excuse for being mean. I had to ask for clean towels after 2 days and asked for the room to be cleaned, the breakfast was poor I have stayed at several resorts where there is always a buffet breakfast and not a menu breakfast, after the first day I just did not have any breakfast and went out to eat the food is overpriced compare to what you would pay elsewhere. This is one resort that I would not visit or recommend to anyone, there are better places in Koh Samui really disappointed with this, the owner has let Koh Samui down badly.

The hotel looks nice when you are there.

No electric, no hot water and staff tried charging me for drinks I didn't order. No wifi, leaky roof and lights hanging off of the walls. No apologies and staff were no help when we tried to order a taxi to leave.

Right on the beach like most island hotels. But very out of the way from anything else. Some staff were friendly. They had a good selection of books.

When we were checking in (after walking ten minutes in the rain from the main road because the taxi couldn't find it), there was a lady complaining about the moldy smell in her room and I didn't think anything of it. I assumed she was being picky... The first bungalow didn't have power (and it did smell a bit), so they took us to another one. This one smelled horrible! The main room smelled of mildew and the bathroom reeked like mildewy urine. We tried to tough it out, but after one night I had a headache and my partner threw up after coming back into the room from breakfast. I went to the front desk and explained very nicely that I understood it wasn't her fault, the excess rain was unseasonal, etc. but could we please check out early and get our money back for the next two nights? I wasn't even trying to get a refund for the first night, just the ones we weren't going to be there for. Nope, not happening. She acted like we were being babies about the smell. TL;DR awful mildew smell, made us sick, no money back after early checkout.

The distance from the road to the resort some area no light at all very dark at night, have to take taxi to come back to resort at night, the beach is very muddy dirty rocky not clear water, shower not so hot only warm water, Never clear the dirt from the shower area water get choked when shower?

New Lapaz is a nice hidden gem of private huts right on Mae Nam beach. The staff were friendly, food was good and everything as clean as it can be by the beach!

The beach itself is not great but good enough for a swim to cool off.

The beach front bungalow is the best that can be booked in the complex, great location and views. It is far from the main street, but it is a perfect place for complete rest!

The prices for transfer are very expencive. The next resort ofered us double lower prices.

Just the quiet location and right next to the beach.

The room given to us was really old with moldy smell. AC is not working neither the hair dryer. I asked them to fix it. Hair dryer fixed, AC not. I did not bother anymore because upon check in, I understood that this resort is run by a family, not by a hotelier with sufficient hotel knowledge and customer service skills. I know that they are trying their best. But sorry, your best wasn't good enough. I did not see the value for money on this holiday. The mattress and sheets are old, no good nights sleeping. Safety box is out of order. A bit far from the main road, and do not dare to walk going outside as there are street dogs. Lousy breakfast. Poor English skills and can never take your order right. Poor telephone etiquette. When I tried to book hotel transfers they just hung up the phone upon hearing someone is speaking in English on the other line. Cottages with garden view doesn't even have the garden with good landscaping. This resort should consider repricing their cottages or demolish and rebuild new ones and hire knowledgeable people to work with them. I do not want to be this fussy guests but I had been to 4 continents and had stayed in hostels, motels and 5 star hotels. This one is the worst.
